A High Court in the Sierra Leonean capital, Freetown has adjourned for the fifth time the injunction matter against the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) following an appeal from the prosecuting counsel, Leon Jenkins-Johnson.
The NDA flag bearer, the party’s chairman, and the secretary general, Alhaji Wurie Musidal Jalloh, Silvanus Kanyako and Mohamed Siray Jalloh respectively were dragged to court for allegedly expelling Mohamed Pateh Bah from the party and for electing the party’s flag bearer “unconstitutionally”.
The plaintiff’s council requested for an adjournment of the matter to properly examine the “affidavit documents” filed by the defense counsel. Jenkins-Johnson said the prosecution had been complying with the two adjournments requests by the defense adding that he needed time to go over the documents before responding to the claims of the defence.
The lead defence council, Bu-Baukie Jabbie said the matter needed to be adjudicated “as quick as possible” because it had to do with the nominations of the party’s presidential candidate and his running-mate, as the elections were fast approaching.
Presiding Judge, Justice Abdulai Cham urged both the defense and the prosecution to complete their submissions before the next proceedings.
The matter comes up again on the 29 October.
