Thorpe's vehicle kills Okada man

A vehicle carrying the Chairman of the National Electoral Commission,  Christiana Thorpe, ACV 135, at about 4:45 PM yesterday collided with
a motorbike (Okada) rider, Momodu Bah killing him almost instantly.

According to the police Local Unit Commander in Waterloo, Edmund Conteh, the accident happened at a place called Kamajor Bridge between Waterloo and the former camp for Liberian refugees, as Thorpe was returning to Freetown from the provinces.

It is not immediately clear whether the vehicle was moving at breakneck  speed but some eyewitnesses have criticised attitude towards the
deceased. Someone who called
Politico alleged that when the accident happened no attention was paid to the deceased even while he was alive saying that he could have been saved. They say all attention was paid to Thorpe.

The police local unit commander in Waterloo could not comment on that saying only that when motorbike riders are the victims of road
accidents their colleagues tend to physically attack drivers and passenger which is why, he says, Thorpe could have been protected. He
also said that the Jui Police station, and not the closer one at Waterloo, was contacted after the accident had happened.

Thorpe would not reply to a text message we sent to her for her comment on the matter.
