The Banker Rapper, Alex Fakondo aka Lex Bubble aka Qathaffi, has criticised the LAKE National Hip-Hop Awards that took place at the Stadium Swimming Pool on Friday May 25, 2012. The rapper’s criticism is among several others that are questioning the credibility and neutrality of the group but also its legitimacy. Lex Bubble referred to the award as “absolutely non-constructive” and the nominations as “trash.” Laughing it out, he said: “hahhaha Salone industry get long way 4 go me brother”. Loosely translated it means Sierra Leone’s music industry has got a long a way to go. He questioned whether Kao and LAJ were the only rappers in the country and further asked: “Who said Willy J is hip-hop? Please confirm if am wrong...” And continued to ask why were Shadow Boxxer, Blacka P and Try Stevens left out in the best hip-hop category. Lex Bubble continued by questioning the time the award was made. He said it would have been right to hold the ceremony at the end of the year which would have given artistes enough time to launch their albums rather than mid year when many of them were working on their albums.
