Abubakarr Bah, Sales Manager of National Petroleum (NP) has appeared in court charged for allegedly conspiring with “other persons unknown” to defraud the sum of six hundred and eighteen thousand, two hundred and twenty-five New Leones (NLe618, 225) from Sara Bailor Jalloh.
The 38-year-old accused, who is a resident of Government Reservation in Bo who appeared before Magistrate Mark Ngegba at the Pademba Road Court No.1 in Freetown on Thursday 26th October 2023 is also alleged to have defrauded the complainant of three thousand five hundred United States Dollars ($3,500), equivalent to eighty-five thousand seven hundred and fifty New Leones (NLe 85, 750).
The court also heard that the accused, on diverse dates between the 1st and 31st of July at No. 20 Nyeama Street in Daru town, Jawie Chiefdom in Kailahun District, received the $3,500 for and on account of the complainant.
Also between the 1st and 31St March this year at the same place in Daru town, the accused allegedly embezzled ten thousand one hundred and fifty liters (10,150) of diesel valued at (NLe 218, 225) New Leones, which he received for and on account of the complainant.
The court also learned that between the 1st March and 30th June 2023, he fraudulently embezzled ten thousand (10,000) liters of petrol valued at (Nle215,000) two hundred and fifteen thousand New Leones, which he was also accused of receiving for and on account of the complainant.
The accused, Abubakar Bah is facing a total of four counts of conspiracy and embezzlement. He was represented by Lawyer Mohamed Wurie Bah, while Inspector Mabel Tarawally is prosecuting.
The Preliminary Investigation resumes on 13th November this year.
