Sierra Leone FA president extends her mandate

The Sierra Leone Football Association SLFA has postponed its Elective Congress originally scheduled for the end of this month in the northern headquarter town of Makeni without stating a new date for the long-awaited Congress.

According to a statement issued by the body, the decision to suspend the Congress was taken after reviewing the work of their judicial bodies so far and correspondences from the National Sports Authority (NSA) and the world football governing body, FIFA.

The main challenger in the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) Presidential race, Rodney Michael has told Politico that having gone through the provisional eligibility scrutiny by the Electoral Committee of the Association he had no reason to be dissatisfied with the electoral process.

No WAFA Matches behind closed doors

The Western Area Football Association (WAFA) has announced the postponement of its first and second division leagues. A statement from WAFA says  matches would have started yesterday but have to be put on hold because of the decision by officials of NACOVERC last Thursday that games be played behind closed doors, in a bid to stem the latest spike in covid-19 confirmed cases especially in the Western Area. The Association took the decision to avoid the economic implications that it says clubs were likely to face playing under such a restriction.

People who much was expected of  whether by omission or commission stifled the progress of the game by inventing counter-productive measures or resorting to sometimes crude destructive tactics to bury the ambitions of perceived opponents just to maintain the status quo.
