No WAFA Matches behind closed doors

The Western Area Football Association (WAFA) has announced the postponement of its first and second division leagues. A statement from WAFA says  matches would have started yesterday but have to be put on hold because of the decision by officials of NACOVERC last Thursday that games be played behind closed doors, in a bid to stem the latest spike in covid-19 confirmed cases especially in the Western Area. The Association took the decision to avoid the economic implications that it says clubs were likely to face playing under such a restriction.

“It is hoped that the Authorities will revisit the ban on spectators at match venues in the near future as soon as practicable, as we promise to strictly adhere to all Covid-19 protocols as directed by the Government of Sierra Leone, FIFA and CAF,” the statement concludes.
