Accountant-General assures of Transparency

Sierra Leone’s Accountant-General has promised transparency and accountability in the management of government funds.
In its first ever press conference since the establishment of the department, Accountant-General Kebbe Kouroma said the best way to do that was to strengthen the relationship between the media and the department.
“This is the time for my department to work closer with journalists than ever before,” he said at the conference held at the conference hall of the Ministry of Finance in Freetown.

Rokel Govt School teachers issue ultimatum

Teachers of Government Rokel Secondary School in central Freetown have issued a 7-day ultimatum to the school authorities demanding certain facilities to be provided or they embark on a sitdown strike.
Speaking to Politico, a senior teacher at the school, Alhaji Abdul Karim Bangura, said he and his colleagues had raised numerous concerns with the school authorities regarding issues that were affecting them as teachers at the school, but that nothing seemed to be forthcoming.

Airtel under fire over poor services

The mobile phone operator, being the oldest in the country, has being providing mobile and internet services to many Sierra Leoneans at home and abroad for over 10 years.
