Socfin Reacts to child labour allegations

The Swiss agribusiness company Socfin has reacted to charges of child labour in its concessional area.

The company denied that it is employing children, in response to allegations forwarded earlier by the Probation Officer of the Ministry of Social Welfare, Gender and Children Affairs in the southern district headquarter town of Pujehun.

Koroma talk tough on FBC squatters

President Ernest Bai Koroma has said that all illegal constructions done on Fourah Bay College property would be demolished to make way for the actualisation of a long-standing project to refurbish the college infrastructure.

Deputy Education director accused of incitement

The deputy director of education in Kono District, Agnes N’Kanku Kamara, has been accused of fomenting a recent violence between pupils of the Ansarul Islamic Boys’ Secondary School and its administration.

The violence, which ensued late last month, left the principal’s office and the school’s computer library in tartars.

Le25M to rebuild burnt Ebola house

Momoh Konte, the Chairman of the National Telecommunications Commission (NATCOM), has presented a cash sum of Twenty-Five Million Leones (Le25M) to the owner of the single house that was set on fire in Kumala village, Neni chiefdom, Koinadugu district, as part of an effort to stop the spread of the virus in the district.

The money was meant to enable the owner of the house rebuild his property.
