Brewery funds minidam at Peacock Farm

Under its Heineken Africa Foundation, the Sierra Leone Brewery is supporting a number of community projects to the tune of Le 1, 675, 000, 000, (one billion, six hundred and seventy five million leones), including a mini dam to serve the Wellington area in the east end of Freetown.

IOM engages Airport & security agencies

Last week, the International Organization for Migration (OIM) has ended a day conference with the Sierra Leone Airport Authority and International Security Advisory Team (ISAT) on security policies and standard of operations at the Lungi international airport.

The IOM conference took place at the Lungi Airport Hotel in Kalfu Bullom Chiefdom. The conference was part of a Health and Humanitarian project that was funded by the Centre for Disease Control (CDC) to improve health defence structure of the country.

Mass Ebola raid in Koidu

Scores of people have been detained in Koidu Town, Kono District in the east of Sierra Leone after a surprised late evening raid on Wednesday.

It was unclear by the time we went to press why the raid was conducted, but police said it`s in relation to efforts to enforce the Ebola byelaws enacted to prevent the spread of the deadly viral disease.

Ebola: ‘Road to zero getting bumpy’ – NERC

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Ebola Response Centre (NERC), Alfred Palo Conteh, Wednesday said the road to getting zero-infection in the fight against the Ebola epidemic was getting bumpy.

The NERC boss made the statement during the usual press briefing at the former Special Court building at New England in Fretown. He pointed accusing fingers at people, in various communities in the country, who he said were not yielding to the directives of NERC and health authorities.
