Ghana warns SLEITI against political interference

Co-chairman of the Ghana Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (GHEITI) has warned the Sierra Leone subset of the global initiative against the implication political interference.

The Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative (EITI) is seeking to promote transparency in payments in the extractive sector.

Dr Steave Manteaw was assessing the work of the Sierra Leone Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (SLEITI) in Freetown.

Pujehun: Three committed to High Court

A magistrate court, sitting in the southern district town of Pujehun, has committed for trial in the high court in Bo two cases of sexual offences ranging from rape and sexual penetration and one on larceny.

Magistrate George Edwin said Kamanda Massaquoi, who told the police that he was 16 years old, had a case to answer to in the high court on one count charge of rape, contrary to section six of the sexual offences Act of 2012 being his instrument.

Stillborn baby Ebola positive - MoHS, NERC insist

The Ministry of Health and Sanitation (MoHS) and the National Ebola Response Center (NERC) are insisting that a specimen from a stillborn baby delivered at the Aberdeen Women Center (AWC) last month is Ebola positive.

The incident caused a row between the NERC and the hospital which accused the former of violating protocol and questioned the authenticity of test result.

SLAJ denies report of Ebola funds unaccountability

The Sierra Leone (SLAJ) has denied inability to account for money it secured for sensitization about the Ebola outbreak.

A social media reports alleged that the umbrella journalist association had failed to account for a sum of Le300 m given to it to raise awareness about the deadly Ebola virus across the country.
