New Caritas logo harmonises regional presence

The Christian charity, Caritas has unveiled a new logo as part of a rebranding move geared towards increasing its impact in humanitarian services provisions.

Caristas, a Catholic based NGO, works on a wide range of areas, including health, education and food security.

The unveiling last week was presided over by Bishop Henry Aruna, President of Caritas Sierra Leone and head of the Kenema Diocese.

Govt, SLFA in a standoff over Le 720 million

The Ministry of Sports and the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) are in a standoff over a Le720million donation. The money which was approved by President Julius Maada Bio is meant to assist the FA for its administrative cost and the running of the FA Cup. The Minister of Sports, Ibrahim Nyelenkeh told Politico over the weekend that the FA have ‘rejected’ the money.

50% Sierra Leoneans have paid a bribe for public service – new report

The 2019 Global Corruption Barometer has shown that 52% of people in Sierra Leone paid bribe for public services. This means that one out of every two people have paid bribe to access public services sometime in the last four years.

The figure is an increase of from 2015 which was 41%. It also reflects how much the country’s anti-graft body must contend with in the fight against corruption.

COI: Winners Chapel confirms former Minister sold state land to them

Testimonies in the commissions of inquiry on Wednesday have revealed that the former Minister of Political Affairs Kemo Sesay, sold state land to Winners Chapel Church. The land in question, which is situated at Regent Road, Hill Station, belonged to the Ministry of Agriculture before it was reportedly given to Mr Sesay as compensation.
