Young Sierra Leoneans clean Freetown on Mandela Day

A group of young Sierra Leoneans spent the better part of last Thursday, July 18 cleaning strategic parts of the capital, Freetown as part of commemoration of Mandela Day.

Mandela Day was set aside by the United Nations to remember the former South African anti-Apartheid icon, Nelson Mandela. The day coincides with his birthday.

Sierra Leone APPA calls for united front

The Chairperson of the All Political Parties Association (APPA), Augusta James Teima, has called on the association to unite amidst division in their ranks. The call comes following the rescindment of an injunction on the association from undertaking any of its functions under the name “APPA”.

Teima made the call during a press conference on Thursday at the Political Parties Registration Commission headquarters.

AYV to hold parliamentary by-election debate

Bo residents complain over housefly infestation

A rise in the population of houseflies in a section of Bo has raised public health concerns among residents and health officials in the southern district.

Three communities - Pendegumahun, Kpetema and Majama - all in Kakua Chiefdom, are directly affected by the situation which the people blame on a nearby dumpsite in Mile Five, which is located five miles outside the Bo township. The affected communities are located within the five miles radius.

Parliament approves $50 million expansion agreement for IPAM

Parliament has ratified a US$50million agreement between the developer, Femab Properties Limited and the Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM).

The approval on Tuesday paves the way for the construction of an ultra-modern campus at Bureh Town which will address a growing problem of accommodation for students of the college.
