NGOs clash with Covid19 managers in southern Sierra Leone

The District COVID-19 Emergency Response Center (DICOVERC) in Pujehun has expressed frustration over the “lack of support” from international and local Non-governmental Organizations (NGOs) in the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic.

District Coordinator of the Pujehun DICOVERC, Mohamed K.G Kemokai, told Politico that NGOs have funds set aside for projects in the district but three months on they have not invested much in programs in the district, leaving them with an ever growing challenge to deal with.

Children in the face of the coronavirus in Sierra Leone

When the dust settles on the fight against COVID-19, then Sierra Leone will realize that children are perhaps the worst affected demography in this country by the pandemic, and that is the case across the world.

This impact is not measured by counting how many children have been killed by the Coronavirus, because the virus has largely spared children. Rather, the impact on children is measured by the sheer scale of disruption it has had on their growth process.

Builder jailed for 15 Yr. for penetrating 8yr old

Justice Monfred Sesay of the High Court in Freetown has on Tuesday 7 July 2020 sentenced 34-yeaer old Mohammed Bangura to 15yrs imprisonment for sexually penetrating an 8 years old girl. The judge described the evidence adduced in court against Bangura as “overwhelming.”

Pujehun goes 30 days with no new Covid-19 cases

The Southern district of Pujehun has gone more than 30 days without recording a new case of Coronavirus. Sunday, 8th of July marked exactly 33 days since all COVID-19 patients were discharged from the district’s treatment center.

The District COVID-19 Emergency Response Committee (DICOVERC) has put down the success to their “remarkable” level of organization across the district even before they recorded a case.
