SLEITI engages CSOs on EITI process

The Sierra Leone Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative (SLEITI) has engaged Civil Society Organizations in an orientation workshop on the Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative (EITI) process.

The engagement, according to the organizers, was geared towards getting the Multi-Stakeholder Group (MSG) step up their participation in the EITI implementation process in the country.

Kombra Network National Executive visit affiliate bodies

The National Executive of the Kombra Network has visited affiliate bodies in Kenema. Chairperson of the network, Dr Ramadan Jalloh, said the engagement in Kenema was part of an ongoing nationwide tour to personally interface with the different Kombra Network district chapeters to understand how they are operating in their jurisdictions.

The Kombra Network is a coalition of religious and civil society organizations that operate as the community engagement arm of the health NGO, FOCUS 1000.

Justice Ivan Ansumana Sesay of the High Court in Freetown has sentenced one Sheku Collier, alias Tapo, to 14 years imprisonment after he was convicted on a one count indictment for sexually penetration.

Woman gets 10 years in jail for human trafficking

Justice Ivan Ansumana Sesay of the high court in Freetown has sentenced one Davida Jones to 10 years imprisonment after the court found her guilty of a two count indictment of attempted child stealing and attempted human trafficking. 

In his judgment on Wednesday 8th July, Justice Sesay said he was satisfied that the prosecution proved their case beyond all reasonable doubts against the 26-year old.
