8-year-old "rape victim" testifies in court

An 8-year old child whom prosecutors say was sexually penetrated by one Amadu Bah has testified before Justice Momoh Jah Stevens at the sexual offenses division of the High Court in Freetown.

In her testimony on Monday 17th August, the victim identified herself as a primary school pupil and currently in class two. She recalled that on the morning of 7th March 2020, she went to the bedroom of the accused who lives in the same compound with her family to watch a movie.

MAN REMANDED FOR SEXUAL PENETRATION

David Vandi alias Lahai who is facing a one-count indictment for sexual penetration has been arraigned before Justice Momoh Jah Stevens at the sexual offenses division of the High Court in Freetown and remanded in custody.

According to the prosecution the accused, on the 17th May 2020, in the Western Area of Freetown, sexually penetrated a minor under the age of 18.

Development ministry concludes 9th leg of decentralization tour

The Deputy Minister of Information and Communications, Mamadi Gobeh-Kamara, has called on the people of Kenema to embrace the government’s Medium-Term National Development Plan as a roadmap towards the transformation of their district.

The deputy minister made the statement during a one-day stakeholders’ engagement on the document, organised by the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development (MOPED) at Albsertson Hotel conference room in Kenema on 14th August.

Labour ministry donates COVID-19 IPC materials

The Ministry of Labour and Social Security, with funding from the German International Cooperation (GIZ), has donated Veronica buckets, hand sanitizers, face masks and sanitary soaps to over fifty businesses, learning institutions, religious bodies as part of efforts to contain the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The presentation of the donated materials was done at a ceremony held at the ministry's headquarters at New England Ville, Freetown.
