Sierra Leone's president assures Port Loko of security

Following a spate of armed robberies in Port Loko, President Julius Maada Bio has assured the people of the northwestern district of his determination to ensure their security.

President Bio made this assurance at the unveiling of the first all-girls’ school in Port Loko Town on Thursday, following an outpouring of pleas by local authorities for enhanced security in the district.

Sierra Leone artists boost anti-malaria with release of awareness raising song

A song written and composed to raise awareness about the deadly malaria disease has been released in major move by the Zero Malaria Starts With Me Campaign in Sierra Leone.

The song titled: Malaria E Don Wan Dae Na Mi Han, is a collaboration by 12 talented and committed singers and rappers, who are champions of the Zero Malaria Starts with Me (ZMSWM) campaign.

German Ambassador support children in southern Sierra Leone

Some 100 children in Bo, Southern Sierra Leone have received radio, face masks and other items as donation from the German Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Horst Gruner. The gesture, according to benefactor, was geared towards showing solidarity and support to children affected by the Covid-19 pandemic in the country.

In a statement at the handing over ceremony last week, Ambassador Gruner noted that the government and people of Germany loved the people of Sierra Leone and that they would always want the relationship to continue. 

Sierra Leone's corruption investigators withdraw from interviewing former president Koroma

Hundreds of supporters of former President Ernest Bai Koroma took to the streets of Makeni on Thursday in demonstration against the Anti- Corruption Commission (ACC)’s attempt to question him over allegations of corruption.

The supporters mounted roadblocks on major streets leading to the residence of the former President, who is also the leader of the main opposition All Peoples Congress (APC), thereby denying agents of the ACC access into his residence.
