Palo’s defence lawyer asks for more time

Lawyers representing convicted former Defence Minister Alfred Palo Conteh have filed a note of motion to the Court of Appeal to ask for an extension of time to file and serve the appellant’s synopsis of argument in respect of his appeal before the court.

Preliminary investigations into a 10-count charge including seditious libel, false publication, defamatory libel and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice brought up against Sylvia Blyden and Hussain Muckson Sesay has continued before Magistrate Hannah Bonnie in Freetown.

Led in evidence by State prosecutor, Lawyer Yusuf I. Sesay on Monday, Detective Police Constable Alpha Sesay attached to the Cyber Unit of the Criminal Investigations Department recognized the accused persons.

Corporate Affairs Commission at NASSIT Court over unpaid staff contributions

The National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT) has dragged the Corporate Affairs Commission to court for failing to pay social insurance contributions for its staff, amounting to over Le50million.

The Corporate Affairs Commission is a government institution, like NASSIT, mandated to enhance company information exchange, support business growth, inform the public and contribute to sustainable socio economic development of the country.

Defence to make ‘no case submission’ in Palo’s spouse's matter

The State prosecutor in the preliminary investigation of Isata Saccoh, spouse of Alfred Palo Conteh, who was arraigned in court for allegedly possessing fire arms and ammunition at her residence, has closed his case before Magistrate Hannah Bonnie in Freetown.

Lawyer Yusif Isaac Sesay, in closing his case on Wednesday 14th October 2020, said the decision was reached due to the evidence led against the accused. 

New Sierra Leone UN Resident Coordinator pays familiarization visit to UNIDO

The newly appointed United Nations Resident Coordinator in Sierra Leone has paid a courtesy call to the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Country Representative on Tuesday 13 October, 2020, at New Signal Hill Road.

Mr. Babatunde Ahonsi, who is a Nigerian, was appointed on 21 September 2020 by the UN Secretary-General António Guterres, to represent the UN in Sierra Leone.
