The WHO Country Representative, Dr. Steven Shongwe says Sierra Leone is one of the countries in the world with a relatively low incidence of deaths due to the coronavirus.

He made this statement at the WHO Head Office in Freetown during a handing-over ceremony of some laboratory equipment donated by the German International Development agency, GIZ.

The parliament of Sierra Leone is set to investigate the office of the Ombudsman over suspected irregularities and financial mismanagement.

The decision to investigate the institution was prompted by its inability to clearly account for monies allocated to it in the 2020 financial year.

Dr. Adamu Mohamed Sani, Programs Officer, Disarmament and Arms Control and Security of the ECOWAS Commission, has cited porous borders as a challenge to the control of the importation and transfer of small arms across the sub region.

Dr. Sani made this statement during the opening session of a training on the exemption procedures to the Economic Community for West Africa States (ECOWAS) Convention on Small Arms and Light Weapons in Freetown, citing a study conducted by the ECOWAS Commission.
