Days 5 & 6: IJ Kabba testifies in Khadija’s murder trial

Madam Isata Jabbie Kabba, wife of former President Tejan Kabba and the 10th prosecution witness in the murder trial of Mariama Sajor Barrie and Ibrahim Bah for the alleged murder of 5-year old Khadija Saccoh has testified before Justice John Bosco Allieu and a 12 member jury.

NaCSA to expand GPC rice value chain operations to Kambia

The National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA) and partners have agreed to extend the pro-poor Growth for Peace Consolidation (GPC) programme to Kambia District.

In January 2019, GoSL and the Federal Republic of Germany through the German Development Bank (KfW) signed a Financial Cooperation Agreement of Euro 20,000 million for the extension of the GPC programme to a third phase - GPC III - for a further four years ending in 2023. This phase of the programme is known as GPC III, succeeding the GPC I & II programmes which ran from 2006-2018.

NaCSA starts another round of direct cash transfers today

The National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA) will today 17 February start direct cash transfers to enrolled beneficiaries of the Government of Sierra Leone COVID-19 Social Safety Net (SSN) in Kono, Kailahun, Kenema and the Western Area (Urban and Rural).

The move is part of the Government’s Quick Action Economic Response Programme aimed at addressing the effects of COVID-19 on citizens.

“I Hate the Life of the 2nd Accused” - 10-year old tells Sierra Leone High Court.

The elder sister of the late Khadija Saccoh has told the High Court that she was sexually assaulted by Ibrahim Bah, the 2nd accused in the murder trial of her five year-old sister. She said she hates the accused person for life.

The witness said the deceased lived with the 1st accused prior to her death and that she used to visit the house of the 1st accused to spend weekends. She said during those visits, one Alex also used to visit the 1st accused to watch movies and to assist her with some domestic work.

The trial of N'tuma Mansaray Nee Bangura, a medical nurse who is alleged to have stabbed her husband Corporal Mahmoud Mansaray 18181984 formally of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces Joint Medical Unit at the 34 Military Hospital to death has commenced before Justice Suleiman Bah and a 12-member jury at the High Court in Freetown.

Ebola is back in Guinea, spreading concern in Sierra Leone

The authorities in Guinea have confirmed the outbreak of the deadly Ebola virus disease in the country which has so far killed four people.

A press release signed by the health minister, Dr Col Remy Lamah says some of the people who participated in the burial of a nurse from the Goueké health center in the district of N'Zérékoré, fell ill. The nurse died on 28 January 2021 and was buried on 1 February in Goueké.

She had fallen ill with diarrhoea and bleeding and was taken to hospital in Nzerekore where she died.
