COVID19 hits Sierra Leone media – SLAJ report

A joint research conducted by the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) and researchers from the Bournemouth University in the UK has revealed the huge impact of the Corona virus disease on journalists in Sierra Leone.

The national survey published by SLAJ according to officials, had responses from more than 600 journalists across the country.

Court dismisses COI appeals

The Court of Appeal of Sierra Leone presided over by Justice Fatmata Bintu Alhadi  has dismissed all grounds of appeal by SOGEFEL SARL, a construction company and Vicky M. Jusu, a former employee of the Rokel Commercial Bank, having appealed the findings and recommendations of the judge-led Commissions Of Inquiry (COI).

The judges Fatmatta Bintu Alhadi, Komba Kamanda and Tonia Barnett ordered SOGEFEL SARL was ordered to pay the sum of one hundred million Leones as appeal cost.

UAE Support Arrives in Sierra Leone

54 pellets of food items have arrived in Freetown on the goodwill of the government of United Arab Emirates (UAE). Receiving the food items at the Freetown International Airport at Lungi on behalf of the government of Sierra Leone, the Resident Minister, North West, Haja Isata Abdulai Kamara  thanked  the government and people of UAE and also Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to the country , Rashid Sesay, whom she said has been working tremendously for the growth of Sierra Leone.

Court of Appeal says Barbah Fortune is Clean

ACC indicts former judiciary staff

The Anti-Corruption Commission has in a press statement announced the indictment of former Acting Principal Accountant of the Judiciary of Sierra Leone Salihu Sheku Nyallay.

The indictment according to the statement was filed on the 4th May, 2021, on three count charges of Misappropriation of Public Funds contrary to Section 36(1), and on Conspiracy to Commit a Corruption Offence, contrary to Section 128(1) of the Anti-Corruption Act, No. 12 of 2008, as amended by the Anti-Corruption Act No. 9 of 2019. 

Red Cross President engages eastern region volunteers
