Sierra Leone poised to combat polio

In a bid to combat the sudden outbreak of polio in the country, the Ministry of Health and Sanitation has announced the first round of the National Polio Vaccination Campaign. The campaign is said to run from the 28th May to the 31st May 2021. 

According to the statement from the Ministry of Health and Sanitation, Sierra Leone has been polio-free since 2010, but the country is currently facing an outbreak of circulating vaccine-derived poliovirus type2 (cVDPV2). 

COI Defense calls for leave of former Health Minister

Defense Counsel Melron Nicol- Wilson representing former Health and Sanitation Minister Miatta  Kargbo  at the Appeal court has filed for leave on behalf of his client.   The former minister in the then government led by President Ernest Bai Koroma is one of many officials in the past regime who have appealed the reports of the White Paper that followed the recommendations by the Commissions of Inquiry set up by the present SLPP government to examine their stewardship during their time in office.

Koyeima Boys School cries for help

Pupils and heads of the Koyeima Government Boys Secondary School in Bo district southern Sierra Leone have called on the government and other well-wishers to facelift their school.

Built in 1928, the school is one of the institutions established in the provinces many years before independence to ensure education for the rural population in the country.

New district office for Sierra Leone ruling party in Kailahun

The ruling Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) has unveiled a new district office in Kailahun town. President Julius Maada Bio on the 22 May 2021 formally opened the structure, at an event that was well- attended by party supporters.

The President praised the people at their determination to give a facelift to the party in the district by constructing the office and said it’s being opened at the time the party was celebrating 70 years of existence.

Bo Rangers open historic clubhouse

President Julius Maada Bio has formally opened the clubhouse of Bo Rangers football club in the Katanga area of the City. The president described the ultra-modern clubhouse and secretariat with state-of-the-art-facilities as the product of “sacrifice, leadership and organization” and called on the players and technical staff to be inspired by the investment to produce good results on the field of play.
