The Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE) and Save the Children Sierra Leone have on the 9th June, 2021 launched the Back to school brief on access to learning during COVID -19 response and recovery, to support the National Development Plan. Key issues were discussed, including the impact of COVID-19 on children in Sierra Leone with a focus on education.

National COVID-19 Emergency Response Centre (NaCOVERC) has in a press statement dated 10th June 2021 announced it latest moves to upgrade the COVID-19 testing system for international travellers.
According to NaCOVERC, the upgrade is to make sure “Sierra Leone’s testing system continues to be fully in line with the standard travel requirements worldwide”. The statement noted that NaCOVERC has maximized the use of technological solutions in order to make travelling from Sierra Leone to any other destination easier.

Land for life Initiative, a project supported by BMZ through WHH implemented by five local non-governmental organizations in Sierra Leone has on the 9th June 2021, engaged paramount chiefs in Kenema district through the District Multi-stakeholders platforms.
The purpose of the engagement according to officials is to engage the paramount chiefs on land disputes that are affecting people in their different chiefdoms.

Sierra Leone’s national football team, Leone Stars are meeting the Squirrels of Benin in the Guinean capital, Conakry today Monday 14 June 2021 to determine which of the two countries will make it to the AfCON tournament in Cameroon next year.
Sierra Leone is hoping for a third appearance since 1996 in South Africa while their opponents are expecting a fifth appearance if they could manage a draw. Leone Stars have to win by a two goal margin to make it through.
