Fears grow over mining impact in eastern Sierra Leone

Residents of Kono-Bendu village in the Penguai chiefdom, Kailahun district have expressed dissatisfaction over the environmental hazards caused by the Chinese mining company, Metal Mineral which started operations in the chiefdom.

Police Constable 9268 Joseph Collins has continued his testimony in the case against an APC member of parliament, Emmanuel Saidu Conteh and 3 others before a Magistrate in Freetown.

Collins told the court that he and 5 others were assigned to investigate 7 unassembled pistols, 12 empty magazines and 100 live rounds of ammunition all allegedly found in a vehicle. He told the court that they sought the services of specialists in ballistic and cyber issues to assist help investigations.

Free Cleft Palate surgery kicks off in eastern Sierra Leone

A team of doctors from Ghana and the Medical Superintendent of Government hospital in Kenema, Dr. Ibrahim Kapuwa have embarked on an extensive and free cleft palate surgery exercise targeting affected children from different parts of the country. An American health organization Smile Train funded the programme which commenced in Kenema over the weekend.
