BAN rates Finance Ministry rated in information disclosure

Budget Advocacy Network (BAN) has launched a scorecard on the first six months of 2021, with emphasis on selected mandatory information disclosure as per the 2016 Public Financial Management (PFM) Act and Regulations. According to their findings on the fiscal financial statement, the Ministry of Finance scored 53% for publishing the information , and got just 23% for not publishing the statement whilst only 24% were said to have been produced but not published. BAN also rated the Ministry’s compliance to the PFM Act as average.

First ever BECE results before new school year - says Basic education minister

The Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary School Education, Dr. David Moinina Sengeh has explained at the weekly government press briefing that the recently released results of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), were the first ever to be released before the start of the new academic year.

Police detain gang-rape suspect for 94 days without trial

Three men are in Police custody in Falaba , suspected of gang raping a 20 year-old lactating mother. The incident happened on 1 June 2021 in Kombili village in the Morifindugu Chiefdom.

The victim said she was in the village to attend a meeting, a short distance from her family’s cattle ranch . She said in the night she went to a makeshift toilet, leaving her baby inside the house. She said 5 men confronted her at the entrance to the toilet, who then dragged her to a nearby bush where they took turns to rape her.

264,000 doses of J&J vaccine doses arrive
