Maritime corruption case stalls

The ongoing trial of former Maritime boss, Paul Sobba Massaqoui and 5 others on allegations of corruption has stalled because some of the defence lawyers said the necessary affidavit needed for an additional witness was not served to them.

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Prosecutor Sarifou Harleston informed the court on 16th September that they intend to bring an additional witness to testify against all six accused persons. He said that he had served an affidavit to all defence counsels to that effect.

Le 20 million bail for ‘thief’

Magistrate Sahr Kekura has granted a 20 million Leone bail to one Tamba Matturi accused of stealing a motorbike belonging to Hassan Bangura.

The statement of offence read that Matturi on the 6th July this year conspired with other unknown persons to commit a felony to wit larceny. In similar vein, the Police also alleged that the accused on the same date stole a TVS motorbike belonging to Bangura bearing the registration number ARH 834. The motorbike was valued 12 million Leones.

Kamarainba yet to meet bail conditions

In a bid to fight COVID-19, the US government has donated one hundred and thirteen thousand four hundred and ninety (113,490) doses of Pfizer vaccine. The United States Ambassador to Sierra Leone David Reimer handed over the consignment of vaccine to the Deputy Minister of Health and Sanitation, Dr.Amara Jambai in Freetown on Monday 13 September 2021.

Judiciary to evict Belliar Park Squatters

Head of Communications at the Sierra Leone Judiciary, Elkass Sannoh has in an interview, yesterday, with Politico explained the Judiciary’s plans to evict illegal dwellers at Belliar Park, Dwarzark in Freetown.

The land at Belliar Park is over a hectare that was reserved for the Sierra Leone Judiciary. However, the land now hosts dwelling houses, garages, a welding shop, church and mosque and some shacks that serve as brothels and other anti-social activities on the said land according to Politico’s observation at the site.

SLPMB boss “destroys” plantations
