Bo Police step up against crime

Police in Bo have stepped up raids against criminals in the city, arresting some men, seizing arms, ammunitions and drugs.

According to the Regional Police Commander South, AIG Aiah Edward Samadia, they have intensified security patrols in the Bo in order to ensure the safety and security of residents in the city and its environs. He stated that the two divisions there have embarked on raids to clamp down on both common and hardcore criminals.  

Sierra Leone Gender bill to factor labour laws

The Gender Director in the Ministry of Gender and Children Affairs, Charles Vandy has disclosed that one of the things the Gender Empowerment Bill (GEB) will be looking at is the labour laws. He stated that people who are in the same rank, grade and perform same functions should be paid equally, no matter their sex.

Those who decide to use illegal means to enter a foreign country and exhaust their chances before immigration tribunals should be deported to the home country and their home governments should cooperate fully by providing the necessary papers to make that deportation possible.

Sierra Leone embassy in Germany clarifies deportation issue

The Sierra Leone Embassy in Berlin says based upon an agreement between the government of Sierra Leone and that of the Federal Republic of Germany, the Sierra Leonean side dispatched a team of experts from Sierra Leone to work with their German counterparts to identify ‘the origin of African Migrants deemed to be Sierra Leoneans and ultimately define their nationalities’.

400%  expenditure rise in tuition & exams in Sierra Leone

Alhaji Moijueh Kaikai was defeated by his brother Ibrahim Andrew Jaiah Kaikai, the father of the country’s Chief Immigration Officer.

Sierra Leone, India sign power line agreement

Sierra Leone’s Minister of Energy, Alhaji Kanja Sesay has signed a contract for the construction of a 225kva Double Circuit 66kv multi circular electricity transmission line with Indian Company WAPCOS.

The Ministry believes that the contract, which was signed on the 13th October this year, is a way of actualising government’s commitment of ensuring that every part of the country is connected to the country’s grid or mini grid.
