16 year old dies 6 months after mastectomy

A 16 year- old girl Adama Kalokoh whose breast cancer situation attracted media attention that led to mastectomy on her, has died at the Connaught Hospital in Freetown. Her surgery was done in May 2021 and according to a close family member, she was doing fine and appeared healthy.

APC battle continues today

Sierra Leone’s main opposition political party, the All People’s Congress continues its intra-party battle in court today before High Court Judge, Justice Adrian Fisher.

Diaspora member of the APC, Alfred Peter Conteh sued big wigs of the party including former President Ernest Bai Koroma, Secretary- General Alhaji Osman Foday Yansaneh, the Political Parties Registration Commission (PPRC) and the party itself. Conteh in his originating notice of motion believes that the party was undemocratic.

Incest matter set for judgment

Justice Momoh-Jah Stevens has ordered both State and Defence counsels in an incest matter to file their written submissions on a matter that involves a 56-year-old father, Mohamed Conteh and his 17-year-old daughter.

The State Prosecutor, Musa Pious Sesay led two witnesses including the alleged victim and the Police investigator.

SLRSA boss suspended again

For the second time in less than a year, the Executive Director of the Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority (SLRSA), Ibrahim Sannoh, has been suspended from office by the organization’s Board of Directors. The period of suspension is indefinite.

At an “emergency meeting” on 3 November, the board found Mr. Sannoh “liable of insubordination to the person and authority of the chairman, board of directors, disrespect to the deputy minister…deliberately stalling the implementation of a contract between the government of Sierra Leone and Autospect (SL) Limited”.

Condolences pour in after tragic fuel accident

Condolence messages have continued to pour in following the fuel tanker explosion that has claimed some one hundred lives. Sierra Leone’s Missions around the world have dispatched messages of support. The Embassy in Conakry, Guinea says it “applauds the Doctors, Nurses and all medical professionals that have been working very hard to save lives and handle the victims”

University student calls for help

Ibrahim Sorie Sow, a student of the Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM), has called on the government, individuals and organisations to help sponsor his surgery on his broken hand in India.

Sow said he had an accident on the 19th September this year, when a motorbike collided with another which led to his current state.
