The Sierra Leone Standards Bureau (SLSB) is set to increase market surveillance inspection at the Border posts and Airports to prevent the dumping of substandard products into the country if given the needed funds.

Amadu Jogor Bah, the Deputy Director of SLSB explained such a move during the Bilateral Budget discussions at the Ministry of Finance, in Freetown on the 26^th of August 2024.

After probing and heated discussions, the Chairman of the Tertiary Education Committee in Parliament Joseph William Lamin has given a one-week ultimatum to the Milton Margai Technical University (MMTU) and New Brookfields Hotel to amicably solve their land dispute or the committee will make a verdict on the matter.

The announcement was made on the 22nd of August 2024 following a five-minute deliberation between members of the Tertiary Education Committee and the Tourism and Cultural Affairs Committee in Parliament.

State prosecutors have brought in their eighth witness, Detective Sergeant Mohamed Kamara in connection with a riotous conduct case against Ali Jaffal and six other Lebanese nationals.

Sergeant Kamara told the court that together with another colleague he obtained a statement from the first accused, Ali Jaffal. He said on April 5, 2024, he was on duty at the Lumley police station at 23:00 hours when he received information about chaos at Young Sportsmen Club (YSC), at Wilkinson road.
