SLRA leads Visit with Construction Firms

The Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA) on the 20th December, 2021 led a site visit with construction firms that are interested in bidding for the Lot 1 of the Tinkonko Junction-Matrru Jong Road Project in the Bonthe district.

The engagement includes the Deputy Minister of Planning and Economic Development, civil society representatives, stakeholders from the district council, and traditional authorities.

Two in Court for obstructing Sierra Leone census officer

Two accused persons Edward Kargbo and Abibatu Kargbo a lactating mother at the Nyandeyama section in Kenema have made their first appearance in court before  magistrate   Abdul Carew of Court No.1, on two counts of charges.

The two accused persons Edward Kargbo and Abibatu Kargbo both being a couple at Nyandeyama section in Kenema on the 21st of December 2021 were arrested by police and charged to court for census-related offences.

AstraZeneca + Pfizer = full dose

National COVID-19 Emergency Response Centre’s (NaCOVERC) Risk Communication Lead Harold Thomas has during an interview with Politico confirmed that people that have taken first jab of AstraZeneca can take Pfizer as second dose. He said the two vaccines are compatible and allow for mixing and matching. 

Wife gets 5 years for killing her husband

Justice Monfred Sesay has sentenced 25-year-old Lamrana Bangura to five years imprisonment for manslaughter.

Lamrana who was found guilty of unlawfully killing her husband, Alie Bangura, made her final appearance at the Freetown High Court in Freetown on Wednesday 22nd December 2021.

The wife was said to have had an altercation with her husband. The quarrel ensued after a neighbour called Augusta went to Lamrana and whispered in her ears in front of Alie the husband.

First Lady supports fund raising drive

Sierra Leone’s First Lady Madam Fatima Bio has supported a fund- raising drive by the Pessima Foundation. The Fund raising dance and dinner held on the 22nd December 2021, according to the organizers was to help needy communities in Sierra Leone.   

Speaking at the event, founder of the foundation Desmond Pessima, said it was launched in Sierra Leone in December last year by the Anti-Corruption Commissioner Francis Ben Keifela.

TSC Trains Teachers on Continues Assessment Scores

 The Teaching Service Commission (TSC) with support from the European Union, World Bank through the Government of Sierra Leone on the 20th and 22nd of December, 2021, conducted two days of intensive training of ninety-five teachers in Kenema district on Continuous  Assessment Score.

NMJD engages multi-stakeholders

The Network Movement for Justice and Development (NMJD) through the Land for Life Consortium has on the 21st December, 2021 engaged its district Multi-Stakeholder Partners (DMSP) in Kenema.

The multi-stakeholder partners were drawn from their operational districts of Porto Loko, Pujehun, Kenema and Tonkolili.
