SLRA engages Students on National Traffic Value Count

The Sierra Leone Road Authority (SLRA) has trained university students across the country on national traffic value count. The training which was held on the 29th December 2021 at district council hall Nyandeyama road in Kenema targeted two hundred and seventy three enumerators and some lecturers from the various universities.

Sierra Leone is part of 19 Member Countries of the Islamic Development Bank that has benefitted from US$ 1.6 Billion to support 24 development projects in Africa, Asia & Europe

 US$ 40.98 Million was allocated to the small West African country for the “RRM for Upgrading of Regional Integration Roads Project”.

The project will contribute to poverty alleviation by providing economic opportunities, markets access, and creation of new employment and entrepreneurship opportunities.

Statistics Sierra Leone extends census activity

Statistic Sierra Leone has in a press statement announced the extension of the controversial mid-term housing and population census to a week in order to ensure that all are counted. The census which started on the 10th of December this year was expected to have ended on the 23rd December but for the extension.

Sierra Leone lights up cities in south and east

At a well -attended event by government officials of Sierra Leone and Cote d'Ivoire, President Julius Maada Bio on Thursday 23rd December commissioned the Tiloma Power Station in Kenema to herald the commencement of a steady supply of electricity to both Bo and Kenema, after years of erratic power supply.

The latest development was as a result of several years of planning by the government and the ECOWAS led West Africa Power Pool initiative to improve electricity in sub-regional member states.

Disability union calls for dismissal of police commander

The Sierra Leone Union on Disability Issues (SLUDI) together with other disabled groups in Sierra Leone have called for the dismissal of former Local Unit Commander (LUC) Waterloo Division, Superintendent Musa Gbandagbla.

This clarion call was made in a press release issued on 23rd December 2021 after a court verdict that ruled in favour of four disabled persons that were dragged to court by the Sierra Leone Police for riotous conduct.

Nonstop electricity drive for Eastern Freetown kicks off

In a bid to improve electricity supply especially in the eastern part of Freetown, Parliament has approved the power purchase agreement between the government of Sierra Leone and Milele and TCQ Power  for the generation of 148.5megawatt power that will provide 24 hours electricity.

The project worth 217 Million Dollars is funded by the United States Development Cooperation making it the largest United States Investment in Sierra Leone.
