The Anti-Corruption Commission ACC has recovered $138,000 (one hundred and thirty-eight thousand dollars from an entity called Etic Sarl’s that was established in Sierra Leone by three non-Sierra Leoneans. The recovery is in relation to the corruption investigations of the Chancery Building in Manhattan in New York City says Emmanuel Koivaya Amara, Coordinator of Operations at the ACC.

Budget Advocacy Network (BAN) and other civil society organisations are set to hold the government accountable for the implementation of the 283 million dollars for Special Drawing Rights (SDRs).

SDR is an international reserve asset created by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) that are disbursed to countries during global crisis like pandemic and it is based on the quota a country has contributed to the IMF that will determine the amount of money it will receive.

The Master and Registrar of the High Court of Sierra Leone Elaine Thomas-Archibald has informed pressmen of the special judicial week created by Chief Justice Desmond Babatunde Edwards to handle all cases of prisoners without indictment. President Julius Maada Bio has sacked the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Anthony Brewah. He is replaced with Mohamed Lamin Tarawally according to a public notice from the office of the President on Tuesday 18^th January this year.

This according to some students that politico spoke to has to do with the conditions attached to applying for the hostels, the ‘high rates of hostels fee’, and the shortage of water.

Properties worth hundreds of millions of Leones were last Saturday 15^th January destroyed by a fire outbreak at a popular commercial area called Cow Yard in Yogomaia locality in the Sengbeh Chiefdom, Koinadugu District. The fire reportedly broke out between 9 and 10 am, but what caused it was yet to be confirmed.  Among the structures destroyed in the blaze were three main shops dealing in electronics and mobile phones.
