3 inter-district robbers arrested in Kono

Police in Kono, eastern Sierra Leone, have arrested three men believed to be armed robbers. During a briefing at Police Headquarters in Freetown on the 3rd February this year, Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Amadu Mannah said the men were also believed to have been responsible for robberies in Kissy, Freetown, and Bo, Southern Sierra Leone.

The Deputy Regional Commander Southern Region, Commissioner Hillary Sao, confirmed that the three men were also responsible for a murder and robbery in Bo City.

Man arrested with 26 bags of electricity materials in Bo

Police in the Bo East division are investigating a businessman Sheku Bah for “illegal” possession of electricity cables.

During questioning at the Police station, Bah said that he bought the wires at 40,000.00 per kilo from vendors who met him at his workplace.

He could not say where he was taking the 26 bags of electricity materials loaded in a truck, before his arrest. According to reports, Bah was taking the materials to neighbouring Guinea.

Lunsar to host African cyclists

The Lunsar Cycling Team has in a release confirmed that the Science in Sports Tour De Lunsar hosted in Sierra Leone will commence from the 25th to 27th March 2022 with participants from other parts of the world including other African countries and the United States of America.

Kono electrification on course- Minister says

The Minister of Energy, Alhaji Kanja Sesay, has symbolically erected the first electricity pole to connect the district to the CLSG interconnections power line and assured the people of the diamond-rich district of plans to enable them to access an uninterrupted electricity supply.

Speaking at the ceremony held on the 1st February 2022, Paramount Chief of Nimikoro Chiefdom, PC Aiah Dante Bona, said they were already feeling the prospects of enjoying sustainable and quality electricity in the district.

Fatima Bio calls for reconciliation in SLPP

Sierra Leone’s First Lady Fatima Maada Bio has led a reconciliation tour within the Sierra Leone People's Party (SLPP) after their delegate’s conference in Bo last year.  The reconciliation tour started with party stalwarts in the Bo district.

The First lady admonished the party membership that elections within the party are over and that the need to come together to win the next general elections is what is of importance at the moment.
