Justice Manuela Harding discharges 19-year-old labourer

Justice Manuela Harding presiding over cases in the ongoing Judicial Week has on 2nd February this year discharged 19-year-old Mohamed Sow, a labourer and 29-year-old Mamoud Mansaray for want of prosecution. 

Sow according to the report was before the court on a one-count indictment of Robbery with Aggravation contrary to Section 23 (1) (a) of the Larceny Act of 1916 as repealed and replaced by section 2 of the Act No. 16 of 1971. 

Dubai Platform discusses health innovations for countries

Health Authorities, Policy Makers, and representatives of the private sector have deliberated on a number of issues in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) at a “Health and Wellness Business Forum”.  

Sierra Leone was represented by Health and Sanitation Minister, Dr. Austin Demby at the forum which is a follow-up on the Dubai Chamber of Commerce EXPO 2020 which was held last year, its original date affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

The Medical Superintendent of the Kenema Government Hospital, Dr. Ibrahim Kapuwa has urged people to monitor and watch their diets, saying that studies have shown that most diets are contributing factors to cancer, especially excessive eating of red meat. “When cancer reaches the worst stage, it can’t be cured at all,’’ he said.

MBSSE strengthens Digital Learning in Sierra Leone

The Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE) has on the 1st February 2022 introduced Sierra Leone Learning Passport at the ministry’s conference hall New England Ville in Freetown, a platform that allows pupils of the three external examinations to access past questions for review and help them understand the nature of questions posed in those examinations.

The conference according to the organizers was to foster partnership and collaboration with other institutions to develop a robust education campaign and awareness on civic matters in the country.
