RCB Customers complain about charges

Some customers of the Rokel Commercial Bank (RCB) in Kenema, mostly government workers, have expressed dissatisfaction over what they described as unexplained charges deducted from their salaries deposited with the bank.

Bo-Kenema CLSG electrification to be restored

The Minister of Energy, Alhaji Kanja Sesay has presented to contractors twenty-two (22) containers of assorted electricity materials for the Network Rehabilitation and Expansion Project of the CLSG interconnection line commissioned last December by President Julius Maada Bio in Kenema.

Since the commissioning of the projects on the promise of providing 24 hours uninterrupted power supply to Bo and Kenema, there have been reports of intermittent power cuts from the city.

Sierra Leoneans evicted in Guinea to be brought back home

 If all goes according to plans, just over 100 Sierra Leoneans would soon be repatriated from Guinea. They are part of groups of both citizens and foreign nationals being evicted from makeshift shelters in different parts of the Guinean capital, Conakry to make way for road construction. The Sierra Leoneans had constructed shacks near a railway line that runs through the Donka community in Conakry and had refused to move despite several warnings by the police.

Okada rider and apprentice discharged

A 24-year-old commercial bike rider   Mohamed Kamara aka Pupa who was standing trial at the Pademba Road Freetown Magistrate Court for offences of conspiracy to commit robbery with aggravation was last week freed by Justice Augustine K Musa. The acquittal of Kamara was part of the review of cases throughout the week in prisons across the country that was initiated by the Judiciary of Sierra Leone that saw the decongestion of the Correctional centres.  

Women farmers get farm implements

The Vice President of Sierra Leone, Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh has on Friday 4th February 2022, joined other officials in the commissioning of agricultural machines donated to Women Farmers in Port Loko District.

The machines according to the officials is to increase food production in the district.

ECOWAS leaders discuss coups in West Africa

 President Julius Maada Bio has joined other West African leaders at the Second Extraordinary Summit of the Authority of Economic Community of West Africa States, ECOWAS in Ghana to discuss the political situations in Burkina Faso, Mali, and Guinea.

The Summit, held in Accra on the 3rd of February 2022 brought together Heads of State within the ECOWAS bloc, following the increased spate of coups in the sub-region.
