Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in the Southern Region has burnt five dredges involved in the illegal mining of gold.
In an interview with Politico on the 8th February 2022 the Regional Information Education and Communication Officer, EPA South, Fomba Sheriff explained that the dredges were destroyed within nine days.

The newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of the Canadian University of Modern Technology (CUMT) in Mile 91, Professor Allyson Sesay has vowed to improve on the general standards and performance of the university and its students.
He says he is aware of the role he has taken and the challenges of the university, noting that he does not condone examination malpractice. He said he has already spotted many motivated students who were unable to graduate because they were financially challenged and needed to be encouraged.

The Resident High Court Judge in Kailahun District, Justice Francis Banks-Kamara, has discharged Musa Fayia who had earlier been convicted by a Magistrate court and was serving a four-year prison sentence.
After spending over two years at the Kailahun Correctional Centre, Fayia benefited from the nationwide judicial review of cases and was set free.

The District focal person for leprosy and Tuberculosis in the health management team of Kenema district has disclosed that the district recorded fifteen cases of Leprosy in 2021with a total country caseload of 138 for the previous year. The national figures for 2021 have still not been released.
Speaking to Politico, Momodu Kondeh said of the 15 cases recorded in 2021, 10 of the patients would take their treatment for a period of one year while the other five would be treated within six months.
