FBNBank Sierra Leone has appointed Udeme O. Udoh as the new Managing Director. He succeeds Gbenga Odeyemi whose two-year period has ended.

Udoh is a graduate of Finance with a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. He takes over with a wealth of experience in banking spanning over 20 years.

Sources at the bank said he has a proven record of “competence and ground-breaking professional expertise that would certainly go a long way in serving the corporate goals of FBNBank Sierra Leone”.

The Eastern Technical University (ETU) of Sierra Leone has on the 26^th February 2022, held its first Matriculation ceremony at the institution’s campus in Kenema with a total of two thousand five hundred and thirty-eight (2538) students for the 2022 - 2023 academic year.

In his statement, the Chairman of the ceremony Dr. Mohamed Combo Kamanda described the event as the first since the institution’s transformation from a Polytechnic into a technical university.

A $40 million revamp of the Siaka Stevens Stadium is set to commence after turning of the sod at the facility on Friday 25 February 2022. The symbolic event was jointly undertaken by the Minister of Development and Economic Planning Dr. Francis KaiKai and China’s Ambassador to Sierra Leone.

The country’s main stadium located in the west of Freetown will undergo extensive rehabilitation and the construction of additional structures within the complex, which was first built by the Chinese Government in 1979.

 Civil Society Consortium on Community Accountability and Service Delivery has on the 25^th February 2022 engaged the general civil society membership, top business people, and other stakeholders in Kenema to popularize the introduction of the Electronic Cash Register (ECR) machines by the National Revenue Authority (NRA).

The Deputy Director of Basic and Senior Secondary Schools in Kenema Kanku Agnes Kamara has warned heads of schools against the selling of the Free Quality Educational materials to come on 1^st March 2022 when the school items will be distributed.

She told Politico that the teaching and learning materials meant for schools are part of the government’s Free Quality Education Programme and would be made available to the schools. She spoke of having engaged partners to help the ministry in their distribution.

Police in Makeni are investigating an alleged armed robbery case involving two students of the University of Makeni (UNIMAK).

Tamba Allison Koroma and Raymond Felix Bangura are third and final year law students of the university who are alleged to have attacked businesswoman Mariama Sesay at her shop along Azzolini Highway in Makeni at around 5p.m on Wednesday 16 February 2022.
