The President of the football world governing body FIFA has congratulated the winner of this year’s Sierra Leone Premier League, Bo Rangers. Gianni Infantino stated in a letter addressed to the Sierra Leone Football Association that “this title could not have been achieved without the entire team’s hard work, passion and dedication and everyone at the club can be proud. Please extend my congratulations to everybody involved in this great achievement”.

“Our agriculture policies are bad”- says MP

Member of Parliament representing Constituency 057 Foday Mario Kamara has said that the country’s agricultural policies are bad. “For years, I’ve been saying here that our agricultural policies are bad,” said Kamara whilst debating on the presidential speech in parliament.
Citing a part of the speech in which President Julius Maada Bio narrated his visit to Vietnam for agricultural purposes, the MP said there was no need for him to visit the country.

$ 41.1 million for new land administration system

The World Bank through the International Development Association (IDA) has granted a total of 41.1 million dollars to the government of Sierra Leone to support the establishment of an efficient and accessible land administration system in Sierra Leone.

ECOWAS considers further talks with Guinea, Mali and Burkina Faso
West African heads of state put off further punishing the leaders of Mali, Guinea and Burkina Faso at a regional summit Saturday, as coup leaders in all three countries continue to insist that it will take years before new elections can be held.
The 15-nation regional bloc, known as the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) will convene again on July 3 before determining if further sanctions will be implemented in the three suspended members states, President of ECOWAS Commission Jean Claude Kassi Brou said.

President Bio urges medical students in Kenya to return home
President Julius Maada Bio has told Sierra Leonean medical students in Kenya to return home. The president made the call during an official visit to the East African country.
He urged them to be ambassadors in their host country, highlighting the importance of education in transforming very facet of the Sierra Leonean society.

Gambia honours Sierra Leone First Lady

Bunumbu, Pendembu light up after 40 years

Commissioning electricity through a company Africo Power Gen in Pendembu and Bunumbu towns both in Kailahun district, Sierra Leone’s Minister of Energy has described electricity as a major source of economic development in rural areas.
Addressing the people in those areas, Dr. Eldred Tunde Taylor said access to electricity supply was a manifesto commitment by the current government, thereby ensuring the ministry prioritizes energy supply not only to urban cities but rural communities as well.
