Bittersweet verdict for NRA Commissioner

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has confirmed that Ibrahim Sorie Kamara, the Senior Commissioner at the Domestic Tax Department at the National Revenue Authority (NRA), was awarded a Philosophy of Doctorate (Ph.D.) degree from two “unaccredited” institutions but that he did not use it to gain promotion.

It follows allegations that Ibrahim Sorie Kamara acquired a fake Ph.D. degree and that he used the said degree to gain promotion at the NRA.

Foreign office reasserts Sierra Leone UN Security Council bid

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reasserted the country’s candidacy for a non- permanent seat on the UN Security Council (UNSC), and that the election will take place in June 2023, and not 2022.

An update from the editorial office of the ministry said the country’s election bid is for the period 2024-2025. It highlighted the level of support the country has got from key member bodies in the continent.

Sierra Leonean doctors excel!

The President of the West African College of Physicians (WACP), Sierra Leone chapter, Dr. Durodamil Radcliff Lisk says he has received excellent results from primary examination in various faculties for the first time and that in the last exams held in March this year, Sierra Leone got the highest pass rate of about 70 percent in internal medicine, more than Ghana with 60 percent and Nigeria 68 percent.

Ministry of Tourism validates National Integrated Tourism Curriculum

The Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs (MTCA) and the National Tourist Board (NTB) on Friday 10th May 2022 validated the draft national integrated tourism, hotel and hospitality management curriculum for the tourism sector. 

The event held at the Family Kingdom Resort, Aberdeen in Freetown was supported by the Enhanced Integrated Framework Tier 2 under the Sustainable Tourism Development and Promotion Project.
