The Pillar Lead at the Emergency Response Centre, Ministry of Health and Sanitation, Harold Thomas has confirmed that Sierra Leone is optimistic in terms of preparedness for the monkeypox disease which was announced in neighbouring Liberia.

Speaking to Politico, Thomas said that “apart from Liberia having a case, we are on alert because Sierra Leone has gotten at least one or two outbreaks in the past”.

Members of Parliament have during their debate on the National Land Commission Act 2022 called for massive dismissals at the Ministry of Lands Housing and Country Planning.

According to the MPs, the personnel at the ministry have been the reasons for the problems in the Sector and therefore their removal is of essence for the success of the minister.

Two men who were part of a group of six accused of damaging 60 building structures at Fonima Section, Goderich failed to show up in court yesterday prompting Magistrate Mark Ngeba to issue a bench warrant against them.

Gbessay Kamara and Samuel Turay were charged along with four other men Aruna Saidu Barrie, John Bockarie,Alex Santos Kamara, and Gbessay Kamara  for offences of conspiracy, larceny, and malicious damage.

The owner of the property Hawa Sesay was not in court as a Police witness testified.

High Court Judge, Justice Mohamed Bawoh, has sentenced 31-year-old Karim Swaray, a (pegapak) seller, and 37-year-old Abdul Koroma, a messenger, to 100 years and 60 years imprisonment for committing an offence of Sexual Penetration.

The two accused persons, Karim Swaray (1^st) and Abdul Koroma (2^nd) were before the court on a four-count charge of Sexual Penetration committed against a 13-year-old schoolgirl.

 Men’s Up Initiative formed to address issues affecting women in society has held its first National Conference on rape and domestic violence, to draw wider public attention to the problem.

The conference held at the Council of Churches in Sierra Leone (CCSL) Hall in Freetown was preceded by a 100-man march across some streets of Freetown on Friday 22^nd July 2022.

Sierra Leone’s Chief Minister, Joseph Jusu Saffa has appealed that Parliament expedites the process of enactment of the harmonization of wages and salary bill already before the lawmakers.

 Saffa made this call during the first and second reading and debate of the 2022 National Security and Central Intelligence Bill on Tuesday 19^th July 2022.
