SLAJ exhorts collective responsibility for August 10

The President of the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ), Ahmed Sahid Nasralla says all must share collective responsibility for the August 10 violence that occurred in parts of the country.

Nasralla made the observation during a meeting with President Julius Maada Bio at State House last Friday, which was also attended by representatives of Civil Society Organisations and the Bar Association.

Woman arraigned for wounding, assault

A woman named Randa Skeiky on Friday 19th August 2022 appeared before Magistrate Mark Ngegba of Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown charged on two counts of wounding and assault contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone. 

According to the charge sheet, count one was for wounding contrary to section 20 of the Offences against the Persons Act of 1861. It is stated that on Friday 25th of June 2021 at Carlton Carew Road, off Wilkinson Road, Freetown, Skeiky maliciously wounded Mariam Conteh, the complainant.

I lost my sight after the slap - complainant testifies

Isatu Bah who was allegedly struck with a light sandal or flip-flop on her left eye by Fatmata Jalloh at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarters in Freetown, has told the court that she is yet to recover her sight since the incident.

“I cannot have my sight,” complainant Bah said while testifying at the Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown on Friday 19th August 2022.

Catholic Youth Groups discuss leadership in Bo

The groups came from across the different districts in the Southern region to discuss leadership.

The Deputy Director of Strategic Communications and Spokesperson at the Office of National Security (ONS), Abdul Karim Will says the country is on Security Level 2 ,after the deadly August 10 protests that occurred in some parts of the country.

He made this pronouncement during the government's weekly press briefing at the Ministry of Information and Communications on 18th August 2022.
