4 remanded for the mrder of a child

Abubakar Sulaiman Kamara, Dora Samuella Kamara, Benjamin Mohamed Lamin Kamara, and Imatu Sulaiman Kamara have all been remanded for allegedly murdering Amidu Kargbo, the son of Haja Kamara, a trader.

The accused persons made their second appearance before Magistrate Mark Ngegba of Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown to answer to charges of conspiracy and murder contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone.

Civic funeral for slain Sierra Leone police officers

 A Civic Funeral for six Police Officers killed during the August 10 protests in parts of the country was yesterday held at the Police Training School in Hastings. The remains of the men were later laid to rest at the nearby cemetery after full honours.

A Press Release signed by the Interim Transitional Governance Committee’s (ITGC) Secretary General Abdul Kargbo, has accused the Chairman of the Committee Alfred Peter Conteh of misleading the public.

ITGC is part of the All People’s Congress (APC) party. The release dated 20th August 2022, distanced a faction of the committee from a press release dated the previous day- 19th August 2022.

Sierra Leone president urges police and army chiefs to uphold peace

President Julius Maada Bio has urged the new Inspector-General of Police, William Fayia Sellu and the Army Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Peter K. Lavahun, to support efforts at keeping the peace of the country.

He made this call during the oath-taking and insignia ceremony on Monday involving the two men as well as other newly promoted officers in the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces, (RSLAF).

Town Chief remanded over theft at SOCFIN

The Town Chief of Henai Village in Malen Chiefdom, Chief Murana Koroma, has been remanded at the Pujehun Correctional Centre in Southern Sierra Leone after he was accused of stealing palm kernel from the plantation of SOCFIN Agricultural Company.

The town chief was arraigned before Magistrate Joseph Toby in Pujehun yesterday along with three others, including a SOCFIN security guard to answer to a charge of Larceny.

Tobacco causes erectile dysfunction – says Sierra Leone's deputy medical chief

Deputy Chief Medical Officer Public Health, Dr. Alie H. Wurie says the use of tobacco nicotine and its other chemicals can lead to male erectile dysfunction.

Speaking in Freetown during an engagement held by Focus 1000 on the hazards of tobacco and nicotine, Wurie explained that a man’s genital organs might not be able to function well, affecting sexual performance.
