Another ghastly car crash

The Director- General of the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC), Joseph Egbenda Kapuwa narrowly escaped a serious road accident along King Harman Road yesterday afternoon.

A light delivery van lost its balance and crashed on to the front of the Kapuwa’s SUV vehichle he was driving. He was said to have seen the van tilting on its side and rushed out of his vehicle just in time to avoid being trapped, as part of the van’s rear fell on his vehicle’s bonnet. He was unhurt.  

Businesswoman complains of police neglect

A resident businesswoman at Dama Road in Kenema, Cynthia Yambasu has expressed frustration over  alleged neglect by the Police following an accident in July which she claimed was caused by a Police Officer, Mohamed Sesay, attached to the Kenema Traffic Division.

Ghastly truck crash leaves 2 dead

Road crashes and violence blamed on alcohol

The Acting Deputy Director at the Ministry of Social Welfare Bombali District Joseph K. Turay has blamed alcohol as the cause of most accidents and violence in the country.

He made the statement on the 21st of September at the Sierra Leone Alcohol Policy Alliance (SLAPA) Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at Bombali District Council Conference Hall, Makeni.

Call to prioritize survivor children’s education

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Focus 1000 Alhaji Mohammad Bailor Jalloh has urged caregivers to prioritize the education of orphans who have survived Ebola and the Mudslide disasters.

Jalloh made this call on the 24th September 2022 at a programme held by Focus 1000 in collaboration with Sierra Leone War Trust Fund (SLWT) to distribute school materials and food items to Ebola and Mudslide children survivors.  

Tree planting covers over 2000 acres degraded land

Presenting the Ministry of Environment’s deliverables for Fiscal Year (FY) 2022, Permanent Secretary (PS) Nancy K. Tengbeh has disclosed they have approximately replanted 2,340  (two thousand, three hundred and forty) acres of degraded land in all the 14 districts of the country with trees and other commercial trees during the implementation of Phase one of the National Tree Planting Project.

RMFA calls for focus on road repair projects

The Road Maintenance Fund Administration (RMFA) has recommended for any future road loan agreement to be focused on road repairing work in the country.

The recommendation happened during the annual budget hearing at the Ministry of Finance (MoF) in Freetown on Friday.
