Operational Guidelines developed for Local Councils

Guidelines that seek to adopt the system of operations for the development of Local Councils have been adopted at a National Forum that includes all councils in the country.

The event took place at the Conference Hall of the New Brookfield Hotel in Freetown on the 6th December, 2022.

2 remanded for robbery

Magistrate Isata Sellu-Tucker of Pademba Road Court No. 2 in Freetown has remanded Alpha Mansaray and Abdul Rahman Fofanah for alleged offences related to Conspiracy to Commit a Felony, Robbery with Aggravation, Wounding with Intent, and Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm.

KKY urges Sierra Leone Gov’t to tighten budget

The Leader of the National Grand Coalition (NGC) in Parliament, Dr. Kandeh Kolleh Yumekella (KKY) has called on his colleague Parliamentarians to tighten the 2023 budget, saying the country does not have enough money to spend and should therefore cut down expenditures in not so important areas, whilst prioritizing others.

Sierra Leone’s Solicitor General says Auditor General’s tribunal in progress

The tribunal set up to investigate the Auditor General, Lara Taylor Pearce and Deputy, Tamba Momoh is said to be progressing well, according to Solicitor-General Robert Kowa.

He told the government’s weekly press briefing that they’ve been accused of stalling the proceedings  but insisted the tribunal is up and running despite of what he said  are some judicial  issues as he said; they have been accused of stalling the tribunal’s proceedings.

Sierra Leone braces up for measles outbreak as neighbours battle outbreak

Following report of measles outbreak in Liberia and other countries in Africa, Sierra Leone’s Risk Communications officer at the Ministry of Health and Sanitation, Harold Thomas has assured of the country’s preparedness to deal with potential outbreak of the disease in the country, noting that there is enough vaccines in the country for children less than five years.

South Korea opens Consulate in Sierra Leone

In commemoration of 60th Anniversary of friendship between South Korea and Sierra Leone, the former, has opened its new honorary Consulate in Freetown, in further efforts to deepen ties.

The consulate is at Wilkinson Road in Freetown where the ceremony to mark its opening took place on Wednesday 30th November, 2022.

 South Korea’s new honorary consul is a businessman in Sierra Leone, Mahesh C. Nandwani.

AU, GIZ boost Sierra Leone Peace Commission
