The Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) and their counterparts from Guinea were on a study tour at the controversial town of Yenga in Kailahun district.

Heading the delegation  on the 26th June, 2024, the RSLAF Assistant chief of Defense Staff, Brigadier General Albert Sylvester Bockarie said the objective of the tour is to help develop the Guinean Army staff college and to establish a new training partnership between Sierra Leone and Guinea.

 Some of the 11 people standing trial for treason and other offences before Justice Komba Kamanda have elected to give evidence in their defence and call witnesses.

This came after the judge dismissed no-case submissions made on behalf of all the accused persons. Justice Kamanda said the prosecution established a “prima facie” case against them.

The euphoria in the jam-packed well of parliament was one of willingness to discourage and end early child marriage in Sierra Leone,  as Members of Parliament  inserted strong penalties in a bill entitled the ‘Prohibition of Child Marriage 2024’, which makes it a crime to officiate, attend, aid and abet, conspire and promote  child marriage.

Lawyer Charles Campbell, representing three people facing seven counts of unlawful possession of drugs, has told Justice Momoh-Jah Stevens at the High Court in Freetown that his clients have remained on remand despite them meeting all bail conditions set by previous judges.

Abdul Kamara alias Bigitel and two others made their first appearance before Justice Stevens on Friday 21^st June, 2024.

Justice Momoh-Jah Stevens has ordered state prosecutors in the manslaughter case involving Ikubolaje Nicol, former manager of SKYE Bank, Sierra Leone, to produce all their remaining four witnesses on Tuesday 25^th June, 2024 when the trial resumes.

He said it does not imply that all the four witnesses would testify on that day, but he would like to see them and the court would then determine whether they would all proceed or not, based on their strength.

The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament has recovered over 10 billion old Leones for the Government of Sierra Leone, according to the Chairman of the committee Ibrahim Tawa Conteh.

Speaking to Journalists on the 21st of June 2024 after two weeks of public hearings during which the committee probed into issues highlighted in the 2022 Audit Report, Conteh said they are on a path of recovery, expressing their determination that monies are recovered at all costs, within the ambit of the law.
