“Where is the Nicotine Act?” – query Sierra Leone advocates

The Communication and Advocacy Consultant for the Tobacco and Nicotine Control Act 2022 Sulaiman Storm Koroma said they are in a state of confusion about the whereabouts of the Act, explaining that neither Parliament nor State House has claimed to be in possession of the bill, which since enacted six months ago is yet to get the President’s assent.

Justice Edwards urges dispensation of global neutral justice

Sierra Leone’s Chief Justice, Desmond Babatunde Edwards has called on personnel of the global judiciary to dispense justice in an independent, transparent, and neutral manner.

The Chief Justice was addressing the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) Working Group (WGIII) on the proposed establishment of a Multilateral Investment Court held at the UN headquarters in New York on Thursday 30th March 2023.

Magistrate opens visa fraud inquiry

Mohamed Kamara, an alleged victim of visa fraud has told Magistrate Mark Ngegba that the 47-year-old accused Mohamed Sal of 66 Sir Samuel Lewis Road, Aberdeen in Freetown, first collected 25 million old Leones from him on the promise that he will provide him a visa to travel to Australia, but he failed to achieve that.

Vice President engages council administrators

In order to ensure effective leadership in local councils across Sierra Leone, Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh and officials of the Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs (MLGCA) have engaged the Chief Administrators of the 22 Local Councils on their operations.

He urged them to step up on service delivery in their respective communities until Mayors, chairpersons, and councilors are elected.
