Schoolboy to be charged with murder

Politico can authoritatively reveal that the CID in the coming days will charge a schoolboy with murder over the death of his teacher in Freetown. Usually, reliable sources say after weeks of painstaking investigations, a decision has now been reached to charge Aroun Conteh with the murder of 68-year-old Gilis Edwin Ola Johnson.

Foreign election observers arrive in Sierra Leone

An Election Observation Mission from the Carter Center is in Sierra Leone to monitor the June General Elections at the invitation of the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone (ECSL).

The four-person team of experts arrived in Freetown from the United States, Poland, Kenya, and the United Kingdom. Additional electoral experts and medium-term observers from around the world will join them in advance of the campaign period, followed by short-term observers and high-level leadership around Election Day.

26 judges set for electoral offences courts

The Chief Justice of Sierra Leone, Justice Desmond Babatunde Edwards has on Wednesday 10th May 2023, appointed 26 judges to administer justice at the newly established Electoral Offences and Petitions Courts across the country.

20 of the judges are assigned to specific regions and districts, according to the Sierra Leone Gazette published on Thursday 11th May this year, also stating that the other six judges are assigned generally to the courts.

Sierra Leone challenged by lack of access to medical products – NHSSP

The National Health Sector Strategic Plan (NHSSP) that spans from 2021 to 2025 has indicated that access to essential products for health remains a challenge in Sierra Leone.

The Document acknowledged that access to high quality, safe, efficacious and cost-effective essential medical products, vaccines and technologies are necessities for a resilient health system.

It recommended that the creation of a strong  supply  chain  management  system will  enable  quality  product  availability  at  all health  system  levels.
