Bio turns sod for new medical university

In a bid to increase quality medical training for Doctors and other healthcare professionals in Sierra Leone, President Julius Maada Bio in partnership with the American International University has turned the sod for the construction of a medical University at the 34 military hospital in Freetown.

A Perception Survey on Youth Political Participation in Sierra Leone conducted by the Institute for Governance Reform (IGR) has indicated that out of the sample collected in the field; only 59% of respondents in the Western Urban said they have heard about the Proportional Representation (PR) system which will be used in the June 24 elections of Sierra Leone.

Ikubolaje Nicol, the former manager of Skye Bank has appeared at the High Court in Freetown before Justice Ansumana Sesay for the alleged murder of Sinna Kai- Kargbo, formally of the same institution.

4 years for wounding with intent

Justice Ansumana Ivan Sesay has sentenced 20-year-old Idrissa Tholly to four years imprisonment after admitting guilty of committing wounding his friend, Nabieu Sorie Kamara, for which a medical report indicated 17 stitches.  

Narrating the circumstance of the incident, the convict told the court on Tuesday 16th May 2023 that the incident occurred after the birthday of the victim who invited him but did not serve him food.

IRG presents citizens’ manifesto to SLPP

PPRC to monitor Sierra Leone elections campaigns

The Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) is to join parties on their campaign trail according to the commission’s Chairman Abdulai Masiambay Bangura.

He told a regional Security Sector meeting in Bo southern Sierra Leone yesterday 16th May that the commission will have members of staff in the campaigns to ensure full compliance with the provisions of the newly enacted Political Parties Act, as the elections are fast approaching.
