The Chief Electoral Commissioner of Sierra Leone, Mohamed Kenewui Konneh, has spoken of attacks on their staff and voting materials at four polling centres in Eastern Freetown on voting day.
He updated journalists on the happenings at a press briefing held at the Freetown International Conference Centre on Saturday 24th June 2023, explaining how polling centre with code 16140, Amaria School at Mountain Cut, the staff were attacked, and voter register destroyed.

The preliminary report by the Group of Seven (g7+) Election Observer Mission(EOM) to Sierra Leone’s 2023 multitier elections has indicated that all 25 polling centres they visited did not open on time and that there were delays that caused frustration among voters.
The report also noted that the delays were caused by late arrival of voting materials.

The Chairman of Media Reform Coordinating Group (MRCG), Francis Sowa (PHD) has urged journalists to promote peace, democracy and good governance during and after elections.
Dr. Sowa made this call during a training of journalists on the revised Independent Media Commission (IMC) code of practice, regulations and elections coverage held at the New Brookfield’s Hotel in Freetown on Friday 23rd June, 2023.

The National Election Watch (NEW), a coalition of over 450 (four hundred and fifty) registered national and international civil society and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) has deployed 5,000 (five thousand) General observers nationwide to cover the multi-tier elections in Sierra Leone.
The number of observers was made known to the public at a meeting hosted by the Group at the New Brookfields Hotel on the 23rd June, 2023 in Freetown.
