Sierra Leone to construct South/East hospital

In order to boost the health sector in the two regions, the Ministry of Health and Sanitation and the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Country Planning have demanded 500 acres of land from stakeholders in the South and Eastern Regions for the construction of State of Art Hospital along the Bo-Kenema Highway.

Officials from the two ministries held a meeting with the people of Jembeh town Baoma Chiefdom in the Southern Province of Sierra Leone about the hospital’s construction on the 10th August 2023.

Kenema Mayor briefs journalists on his plans for his municipality

The Mayor of Kenema Municipality, Thomas Karim Baio has briefed Journalists and Local Authorities on his new development Plans for the people of Kenema City in his second tenure of office.

The briefing was held at his residence in Kenema on the 14th of August 2023.

He said his engagement was to discuss issues of importance to the development of Kenema and acknowledge the media’s role in making it a success.

Lawyer disputes tendered statement of client

A Defence Lawyer, Joseph Fitzgerald Kamara, has told a Magistrate Court in Freetown that a Police statement tendered in court was not the one made by his client.

Kamara said this at the Pademba Road Magistrate court in Freetown on Monday 14th August 2023 whilst representing Alpha Sheriff and eight others in connection to illegal possession of small arms and operating an illegal private security service.

USL Admin distributes tablets to staff

In a bid to enhance the efficiency of key staff, the administration of the University of Sierra Leone on Monday, 14th August handed over Tablets to the Deputy Registrars of its three constituent colleges for onward distribution to all Deans of Faculties, Heads of Departments and other key administrative staff members including those at the School of Postgraduates Studies and the eLearning Centre.

Sierra Leone agrees to send troops to Niger

Sierra Leone has agreed to contribute troops to the crisis-ridden Niger where the army overthrew the elected president, Mohamed Bazoum in July, prompting West African heads of state to put on standby the ECOWAS Standing Force.

Minister of Information, Chernor Bah told Politico that the country would be contributing troops to the force that should move into the former French colony to reinstate the ousted president.

Police warn against illegal demonstration in Sierra Leone
