 The Media Reform Coordinating Group (MRCG) last week convened a workshop that brought together key figures from Sierra Leone’s media landscape, to Review the Draft National Media and Information Policy. 

The workshop was held at the Dohas Hotel in Bo on the 7^th of September, 2023.

 In his presentation, the National Coordinator of MRCG, Dr. Francis Sowa, emphasized that the document presented is a compilation of discussions on key issues that could inform future policy decisions.

As its membership across the country assembled to deliberate on critical issues toward the progress of the organization, the Network of HIV Positives in Sierra Leone (NETHIPS), has vowed to curtail the chain of transmission of the disease in the country.

NETHIPS held this year’s Annual General Meeting with the theme “Adapting to a changing context”, in Kenema from the 6^th - 7^th September, 2023.

Paul Daniel Koroma, a pastor, and Abubakarr Gbla have both been set free of sexual penetration charges in two separate cases at High No.6 in Freetown.

Before reading the verdict related to Koroma on the 8^th of September 2023, Justice Cosmotina Jarret told the court that there were inconsistencies among prosecution witnesses one, two, three, and four, whilst also pointing out that the witnesses were all unavailable.

Thus, she said, “I have doubts as a judge as to whether the accused did the act.”

 National Publicity Secretary of the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) Sidi Yaya Tunis, they are ready to participate in dialogue to be brokered by International partners.

He told Politico in an interview on Wednesday that they have made their dialogue commitment to the Independent Commission for Peace and National Cohesion (ICPNC). He said that they have also got authorization from the party’s National Advisory Committee (NAC)   and National Executive Committee to proceed with the process.

An 8-year-old orphan, disabled after surgery, has been stopped from going to school in the village of Makiteh Koya Chiefdom due to his depressing health condition.

The boy whose identity we cannot reveal for sensitivity reasons crawls on his waist and can hardly control nature’s call, which reportedly forced the school authorities to stop him from attending classes.
